Fox News Says Marijuana Causes Mass Shootings, Violence

Ingraham believes not enough people are talking about what she claims is “the pot psychosis-violent behavior connection”

Fox News

We’d say ”You can’t make this stuff up, folks” … but Fox News sure can. Fox host Laura Ingraham knows exactly where the blame lies for the Uvalde elementary school massacre and other shootings. It’s marijuana. Nope, it ain’t the fact that military-style assault weapons are easily available for purchase all over the country. It’s not the lax gun laws, sponsored by the NRA and its campaign contributions, allowing shooters to buy weapons legally.

It’s reefer madness, Laura claims, reports Talking Points Memo. That’s right, folks. It’s none other than that old “marijuana psychosis.” Fox, in its coverage of the horrific school massacre resulting in the deaths of 19 students and two teachers in Uvalde, Texas, has placed blame on damned near everything but the guns.

Ingraham complained on Tuesday night that not enough people were talking about what she claims is “the pot psychosis-violent behavior connection.” The reason for that, she claims, is because of Big Pot perpetuating a “pro-marijuana bias” in the media. It’s “so powerful because billions are on the line with it nationwide.”

“Completely Oblivious”… You Can Say That Again

Ingraham said that soon she’d be getting hatred on social media for her claim, reports Meaww.

Laura added that politicians calling for gun control should actually be focusing on the frightening dangers of loco weed. That’s the real culprit slaughtering kids, Ingraham would have us believe.

“People like Beto [O’Rourke]… they are fine with doing a run on the guns and I guess you could argue that if that’s what you want to do—try to get rid of the Second Amendment. But yet completely oblivious to what the legalization of marijuana has done and is doing to an entire generation of Americans with violent consequences,” Ingraham claimed.

And Her “Unbiased Expert” Guest … Well, He Sells Piss Tests

Laura’s ”unbiased” guest, some bloviating clown called Dr. Russell Kamer, is in the business of selling piss tests to employers.

“It’s very scary what’s going to happen,” Kamer intoned to a wide-eyed audience of Fox zombies, reports The Daily Beast. “We have just seen the beginning.”

“If marijuana is legalized at the federal level,” he ominously added, “we predict there will be at least 7,000 excess traffic fatalities a year.” (Despite repeated studies, no clear link between Cannabis legalization and traffic fatalities exists.)

A Right Wing Agenda, Hidden Under A Flimsy Pretense

It’s all part Fox News’ familiar campaign to desensitize its audience to the mass shootings. That agenda is hidden under a flimsy pretense of militaristic solutions and fruitless thoughts and prayers.

They’ve tried scapegoating unlocked doors, poor fencing, and even a lack of “trip wires” and “man traps” in schools.

Hosts and guests attempt to normalize the violence, reports Media Matters. They claim that a society supposedly lacking traditional masculinity and respect for law enforcement inexorably leads young men to barbaric acts. The role of the gun was dismissed in favor of Fox’s favorite rhetorical strategy: connecting societal issues to nonexistent culture wars.
