For our Concentrate of the Month, we checked out the latest from Happy Cabbage in New York. Originally from Oregon, the brand has started to enter the New York market with a focus on solventless hash rosin. As someone who appreciates some good terps from the candy aisle, Candy Store was an easy option to grab and dab. This particular strain was bred by Ethos Genetics as part of their Unique Boutique line. Candy Store crosses Lemon Berry Candy OG and Ethos Cookies #16.
The resin here is a little darker, as it’s true full spectrum, but the trade-off is a more potent experience with the full entourage effect. It melted as expected — not like water, but not super dark — and the nose translated to taste well. It has clear, sharp candy notes with a bit more complexity than your average run-of-the-mill strain. Enjoying this one left the taste of Smarties, sour belts, cherry cola syrup and those old waxy fruit chews your grandparents grew up on. Even under all that sugary sweetness, there’s a hint of gassy funk that lives underneath for a touch of added power.
This definitely felt like a hybrid strain. Some pressure behind the eyes immediately gave way to a full-body, unclench-your-jaw type of relaxation that was a great addition to my evening routine without knocking me out. I noticed a slight mood boost, unlocked creativity and an eagerness to laugh with this one.
While Candy Store might imply this one is for kids (it’s not), don’t forget how many adults have a sweet tooth as well. Add this one to your list, and when you need to indulge in a little sweet treat after dinner, don’t be afraid to crack this jar.
