Melted Strawberries, also known as “Melted Strawberry,” is a mouthwatering cross of GMO and Strawberry Guava made by Bloom Seed Co. Bloom has since retired the variety, but brands like Northwest Soiltech out of Bend are keeping this flavor in full effect in gardens — and thank goodness for that. It’s my favorite way to get a daily dose of fruit.
Often heralded as a heavy hasher, this is one of those cultivars you might find in concentrate form more frequently than flower. So, we were excited to get our hands on some beautiful buds from a crew known for tending these types of terpenes with tenacity.
The folks at Northwest Soiltech — and its production branch, Northwest Oiltech — have nestled themselves nicely into a reputation for curating well-balanced combos of fruit and funk. Our palates are still stained with the tantalizing taste of the Papaya Juice rosin we cracked into almost a year ago.
Bright in color and profile, Melted Strawberries has a crisp cure that’s close to perfection. The strawberry-blond pistils protruding from each nug prepare you for the sweetness that greets you upon first sniff. It’s nostalgically near an old-fashioned strawberry candy. You know the ones.
A pungent kick of gooey garlic gallops through the fruit as you break your way into the bud and grips the reins again as you spark up. Savory waves roll over the tongue, soaking the senses in a bath full of butter. Solidifying in much the same manner, I found myself morphed into a sentient stick of the stuff: still, malleable and ready to melt into a puddle of comfort.
