Common Wealth Seed Co. was born from that inner circle. Adam Bush has led the garden side of Archive Oregon since launch, earning a behind-the-scenes perspective on an extraordinary range of genetics. He’s seen the good, the bad, the ugly and the exceptional. Bush has pheno hunted at a scale most cultivators never encounter, singling out the outliers that make a garden look and smell otherworldly one round at a time.
So when Bush tells me the Grape Sunshine is a standout across every metric that matters, I believe him. Secret Lemon by Tallymon, the lineage reads like a fruit cocktail label. Secret Lemon itself is a pairing of the twice-renowned Lemon Peel and Moonbow, while Tallymon is (Banana OG x Dosidos) crossed with Papaya.
Nose to jar, the profile lands somewhere between “fierce” and “frost” on the sports drink spectrum — big grape up front, with banana rounding out the fruitiness and smoothing the funk that the Papaya contributes to the bouquet. Dosidos is present with just enough of its classic sweet, gassy lift to pull the notes together. The result is a remarkably stable, blond rosin with a killer nose.
“We popped around 50 seeds, and the Grape Sunshine didn’t really stand out at first,” Bush recalled. “We were still working with Dammit Bobby at the time — he’s actually the one who named it based on the grape smell none of the other plants had.”
That distinctive character translated directly to yield.
“It washed at 8% the first round and 9.2% the next. We knew it was special,” Bush said.
A plant that washes near double digits with a stable resin profile doesn’t stay a house secret for long. Bush and his brother Ryan began breeding with the Grape Sunshine specifically to see whether its resin production could carry into genetics that don’t wash — and they found their keepers.
“We really went for it,” Bush said. “And once we realized we wanted to bring it to the masses, Common Wealth Seed Co. was the natural next step.”
Their debut release of Grape Sunshine launched in 2025 at Mary Jane Berlin, followed by a second drop this past June.
The hard work is paying off. RoolabFlavours’ Box of GrapeZ — a Zkittles cross from Common Wealth’s Grape Sunshine line — won first place at the 2026 Masters of Rosin in Barcelona against some of the toughest competition in Europe. This recognition is a fitting milestone for a seed company built on the conviction that the best resin starts with the right plant.
