Our dear friend, fellow activist and pecan pie extraordinaire, Dave Mesford AKA Dave Damit, passed away on April 20, 2024. Dave’s journey through life was marked by his boundless energy, generosity and indomitable spirit, particularly during his courageous 3.5-year battle with aggressive bladder cancer.
With his gorgeous long dark curly hair, Dave knew everyone and everyone knew Dave. Dave’s passion for life extended into every corner of his community, where he often was found sharing a cannagar or fat joint! From his exceptional role as a Cannabis cultivator and breeder, to his invaluable contributions to Cannabis organizations like Seattle Hempfest Core and CannaCon business expo where he was a partial founder, his integral role in the national Cannabis movement and industry has been a pivotal facet of his life for the last two decades.
Dave touched many lives. His devotion to helping people and animals alike showcased the depth of his kindness and selflessness. If you ever received one of his pecan or strawberry rhubarb pies, count yourself one of the lucky ones.
Dave was a proud parent to Joey and Shelby, a wonderful brother, a beloved grandparent to Tyler and Jasper, and a dear friend, confidante and advocate for many people over the course of his unique life. Dave passed away peacefully, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family.
In keeping with his giving nature, we invite you to contribute to a fund set up to cover the costs associated with Dave’s medical bills and upcoming memorial service. Any amount you can afford will greatly help alleviate the financial burdens faced by his family during this challenging time.
