When I see flower like this, pristine in every way, with a scent that’s throwing off a visual signature similar to a cartoon pie cooling on a windowsill, I know it’s the culmination of years of early mornings, late nights, reservoir floods, 3 a.m. camera notifications and more METRC tags than you’d ever want to count.
It’s safe to say Lofty is in the upper echelon of growers in the Pacific Northwest. The brand’s strain selection puts flavor and effect at the forefront, while the cultivation team’s patience in properly finishing the flower dials the jar appeal to 11. Lofty’s herb isn’t just showy, it’s an ideal headstash.
“We’re trying to keep Oregon current with the same sort of hype strains that people are excited about in LA and New York,” Co-Owner Utah Lange explained to the Leaf. “We brought in around 200 strains in the last year, and this one stands out. It’s one of the few strains that tastes exactly how it smells.”
“When I hunted it, it named itself,” the renowned breeder who goes by Fiya Farmer said to the Leaf. When Fiya Farmer combined the results of two enormous pheno hunts — collaborations with pros in their own right: Backpackboyz, 5Points and DojaPak — it was the culmination of half a decade spent trading and breeding some of the most sought-after cuts in cannabis. Basket-woven Cookie strains, introduced alongside premier OG cuts and Zkittlez variants, give this strain all that neck-breaking bag appeal alongside a complex profile. The undisputed winner of the pack, Crunch Berriez, emerged as the most interesting expression.
The scent of this strain is going to haunt me the second I finish the jar. Syrupy, rich berry flavors push sweetness toward evaporative-diesel notes that are practically eye-watering in their intensity. Additional notes of lime candy and earthy, forest-forward flavors draw attention to a base of iconic, part-of-a-balanced-breakfast cereal.
