The Hazy Hill team created Papaya Flambé in-house, pairing Papaya BX with Hazy’s house-bred Frutas del Diablo (Tropicana Cookies x Devilz Cake). The Devilz Cake is another strain made in-house at Hazy Hill and is a selection of Zkittlez x Wedding Cake.
The buds are predominantly light green with splotches of purple and dark sugar leaves. They are stacked with medium density and break down quickly. The pale orange pistils burst in little tufts.
As expected, the nose out of the jar is fruit-forward. The most prominent aromas come from the Frutas/Tropicana side of the family. I love the blend of blood orange juice and peels, with a little papaya and purple adding their influence to the profile. There are also aromas reminiscent of a cranberry cocktail, soft pine and pepper within, and the darker fruit of the cranberry helps push this nose toward fruit punch in flower form.
The buds break down easily, and while they are dense, there’s enough looseness in the structure for them to break apart and cover the grinder and rolling tray with kief. The flower burns clean with a flavor reminiscent of a forest after rain, with some peppery bite. The texture of the smoke is soft and steamy.
The effects come on quickly, strong and stoney behind the eyes but remain clear-headed. There’s some pressure behind the eyes and enough of a body stone to help manage chronic aches and pains, while the mind stays bright and clear. I enjoyed this flower any time of day I grabbed the jar but found myself most content with the breakfast bowls. It really helped maintain my focus for the day, and with a smooth, gentle come-down, there’s no worry about missing a scheduled sesh and crashing out.
