There seems to be no shortage of alternative “milks” that one can choose to accompany their coffee these days. Soy, oat, almond, hemp, date, coconut, or cashew, there is milk for just about every plant-based preference. This hasn’t always been the case, but thankfully we are in a vegan heyday and non-dairy milks are here to stay. Whatever your reason for not drinking dairy, whether it be environmental, gastrointestinal, animal rights-focused, or just because you genuinely like the flavor better, you will undoubtedly have two to three options at any coffee shop you step into. Sometimes though, it is nice to indulge in the classics. So if your stomach and your ethics can handle it, consider enjoying a coffee beverage “breve” – ideally with a hefty bowl of White Rhino.
Simply put, breve is using half and half in place of conventional dairy milk. For anyone who has spent their whole life drinking alternative milks, let me just further clarify that half and half is half whole milk and half heavy cream. It is a bit of a decadent option and thus should be reserved for cheat days or smaller drinks like traditional cappuccinos or macchiatos – but obviously don’t let me tell you how to live your life. If you want an extra-large breve latte, go for it. Apart from being a way to flex your lack of dietary restrictions, using half and half does result in a creamier, thicker beverage that becomes toasty and buttery when steamed. Half and half is basically tailor-made for coffee, making it inherently a great compliment and a natural beverage enhancer.
A thicker strain in its own right, White Rhino is almost always dense and covered with glistening sticky trichomes. The bud is incredibly pungent with a bright chem-y aroma and when smoked, has a smooth woody spice to it. A cross of White Widow and a North American landrace indica (and not to be confused with The White/Triangle Kush and its descendants), White Rhino is an absolutely classic strain from the medical days. Heavy and therapeutic, it was recommended to patients for relief from a wide range of ailments. White Rhino is a great strain for those looking to combat stress or pain because while it is incredibly relaxing, it still has a foggy cerebral buzz.
When paired together, White Rhino and a breve are best suited for luxurious activities like lounging on a boat, getting a manicure and pedicure, or having breakfast in bed. This combo is all about self-care. Don’t expect to get anything done quickly after consuming this coffee and Cannabis pairing. So, if you can get your hands on some of that old-school White Rhino, consider pampering yourself with a cafe breve and relaxing the rest of the day away.
