Cocktail Square Gummies & Key Lime Mojito

We started our beach-inspired pairing by making a delectable jug of homemade key lime mojito…

Wine and chocolates for Valentine’s Day are so ho-hum. That’s why this year we’re shaking things up (literally) with Stoney Moose Kitchens’ Watermelon Mojito and Lemon Drop Gummy Squares – plus a side of homemade key lime mojito.

We started our beach-inspired pairing by making a delectable jug of homemade key lime mojito featuring Bacardi Rum. To make the cocktail, we combined the following simple ingredients in a large pitcher: 2.5 cups of rum, ¾ cup of lime juice, ¾ cup of key lime juice, ¾ cup of confectioners’ sugar, and 3 ¾ cups of club soda. Typically, you’d want to garnish with fresh mint, but when mixed with the gummy squares, we found the extra mint to be unnecessary – especially when paired with the Watermelon Mojito Gummy Squares.

These small, sugar-coated gummies were bursting with spearmint flavor! In truth, we didn’t pick up much else taste-wise, but the mint was a really lovely contrast to the sweet and sour profile of the key lime mojito. However, the robust flavor is only one part of the one-two punch you get from these gummies. Made with full spectrum CO2 extract, we got to reap the full sleepy benefits of the indica-leaning hybrid gummy. But beware, even a single 10mg serving and a few sips of cocktail had us comatose on the couch for most of the day.

For our second round of pairings, we dipped back into the fridge for another glass of mojito to go with a Lemon Drop gummy. Unlike the Watermelon Mojito variety, the Lemon Drop had a more complex flavor. A dominant lemon profile was met with spicy notes of turmeric that made the gummy taste just like its cocktail inspiration. Paired with the citrus of the key lime, this was a home run of sour flavors that really delighted our taste buds.

Unlike the sleepy Watermelon Mojito, the Lemon Drop was bright, uplifting and energizing. The high slowly crept up in waves of bubbly happiness that made us let go of all the stress we’d been lugging around. Although we couldn’t utilize the energy kick to knock out chores around the house, finding happiness in the dark winter months was an unexpected pleasure.

Bottom line, both of Stoney Moose Kitchen’s cocktail-inspired gummies are standouts. Just make sure you clear your calendar before imbibing.
