Cookies and S’mores Rosin Chocolates

This rich and toasty treat will get you toasted and tastes like a classic mocha latte with a kushy campfire twist.

The Leaf Team runs on coffee and Cannabis, so we were hyped as hell to bring this pairing column back to the Northwest magazine for December. Perhaps it was all the caffeine we drank putting the Edibles Issue together? Plus, there’s never been a better time for it – from peppermint mochas to gingerbread lattes and salted caramel cold brews, there are so many delicious drinks to sip on during the holiday season.

So, we decided to concoct our very own Cannabis-infused coffee experience with a three-way wake-and-bake pairing powered by Gold Leaf Gardens. We start our morning by rolling up a joint of Peppermint Cookies flower, a mystery Girl Scout Cookies pheno from the Bay area exclusive to the Gold Leaf genetic lineup. Off the bat, she’s herbal and earthy with notes of fresh mint and grassy pine needles on the nose. As we give the flower a grind, more of that sweet, sugary smell from the cookies and milk chocolate comes through.

Joint rolled and ready, we head across the street from Leaf HQ to All City – a local shop slinging espresso out of the Georgetown neighborhood. We get a hot latte, grab a table, and drop in a few Milk Chocolate & S’mores 4.20 bars produced by Evergreen Herbal, infused with flower from Gold Leaf Gardens and hash rosin from Polar Icetracts. The layers of milk chocolate, marshmallow and graham cracker crumble melt into the steaming hot drink, creating a rich and toasty treat that is about to get us toasted. It tastes like a classic mocha latte, but with a kushy campfire twist.

On the walk back to HQ, we sip our infused coffees and spark up that joint. The Peppermint Cookies flower is minty and woodsy on the inhale, then sweet and creamy as it leaves the lungs. It created a euphoric head high and energizing body buzz, leaving a refreshing aftertaste reminiscent of mint chocolate chip ice cream. Between the caffeine fix, uplifting effects of Peppermint Cookies and rush of creativity from the rosin, this pairing was exactly the boost we needed to pull back up to HQ ready to power through a busy morning of working – and smoking some more weed.
