Shop Review: Zen Leaf

Whether you’re going for gassy-cakey goodness or looking for fruity strains like Apples and Bananas, Zen Leaf has it all

Moving from West Chesapeake Avenue to East Joppa Road in July, Zen Leaf is still bringing the heat to Towson. This dispensary’s short move down the road Zen Leafwas a very practical decision that added a functional drive-thru and a parking lot to their amenities. Being one of four Zen Leaf dispensaries in Maryland, they have the expertise and staffing skills required to create an atmosphere that customers truly enjoy visit after visit. On a cold and snowy day in Maryland, definitely consider warming yourself up with the fine folks and fabulous products found at Zen Leaf.

Setting and Vibe

As all Zen Leaf locations do, this store brings a very clean vibe without feeling like a stale, chain-run dispensary. The walls are alive with close-up shots of growing Cannabis, juicy concentrates and various weed-themed products. Every single employee has a smile on their face, and the music is bumping classic hits from the second you walk in the door. They make it pretty hard to have a bad time in this store, and go the extra mile to pay close attention to every detail of a patient or adult-use customer’s experience. During my visit I even saw Maryland Retail Director Jack Edwards give his personal phone number to a curious customer so he could contact him directly if he had any questions – just one example of how this store consistently goes above and beyond to make people feel welcomed.

Being under the Verano umbrella, you can find a huge selection of the hottest new strains from Essence and Savvy. But that isn’t to say they don’t have a ton of options from growers all across the state like Fade Co., gLeaf, Curio Wellness, and even the newest from Flower by Edie Parker. I am always on the lookout for Afternoon Delight from Rythm – and you could say I was “delighted” to find it on the menu here. Whether you’re going for that gassy-cakey goodness or looking for fruity strains like Apples and Bananas, they have it all.

Medical patients can find a huge range of concentrates available here, as well as a staff that makes dabbing approachable. Live concentrates including badder, diamonds, sugar and sauce, and even shatter are available here regularly. On the solventless side they have Moroccan hash, live hash rosin and cured live rosin. For adult-use customers the selection of vapes is strong, including FSE vapes from the homies at Beezle Extracts. They also have a nice selection of dabbing gear for getting started, whether you want a Puffco for easy dabbing or a rig and banger to jump right in.

Both adult-use customers and medical patients can buy edibles, and there is no shortage of variety at Zen Leaf. If you want to grab something you can drink, Vibations has a pomegranate blueberry acai drink mix which is portable, practical and tasty. Looking for baked goods? They have brownie bites, choco chip bites, snickerdoodle bites and blueberry muffin bites from Bubby’s Baked. And when the tummy calls for a gummy, the vast assortment of flavors and potencies available from Bits and Encore are sure to leave you satisfied.

Product Review

Monkeybread from The Essence
30.09% Total Cannabinoids | 2.69% Total Terpenes

A cross between Tropicana Cookies and GMO, this batch of Monkeybread was leaning on the GMO side of the cross with a sharp diesel and earthy aroma. On the back end, you get notes of citrus fruit that blend in smoothly with the pungency of the aforementioned petrol. These buds are gorgeously caked with trichomes and bright-orange hairs – pretty much exactly how you want your weed to look when you bust open a jar. I used this strain during the day for a focused high, coupled with a sense of pain relief after a couple hits.
