Stoner Owner: So Lah Tea

“I donate some of my RSO to cancer patients and others who really need it.”

If you have ever been to a major sesh in New York City, you have probably encountered — and hopefully tasted — some delicious So Lah Tea beverages. These drinks keep you refreshed and cool, and the optional RSO infusions can really knock your socks off. Whether used medicinally or just for the great taste, the owner’s consistency, dedication and passion are all evident in each sip. I sat down with Ti, the owner of So Lah Tea (who preferred not to share her last name), to discuss her purpose, her background and how she came to be the go-to brand for seshing in the city and beyond.

When and why did So Lah Tea start?
My father had MS and was always in a lot of pain. Hearing and seeing him in pain was really tough. He was an old-school, stubborn New York dude, so it was really hard to convince him to try Cannabis. While I work in the medical field, my family is also from Paraguay, so we have a deep knowledge of herbs and teas going back generations. Smoking wasn’t really for him, but it did improve his symptoms. So, we found a way to infuse and create tinctures with RSO, which led to RSO honey and created these incredible infused teas that really helped him. After he passed, I decided to pay it forward, and the brand really got started. I donate some of my RSO to cancer patients and others who really need it.

When people drink your products, what do you want them to experience?
If I can make someone feel better, help someone or save lives, that really is the most meaningful and important thing to me. Hopefully, people feel taken care of, like a home-cooked meal level of attention.

What makes your brand different?
Beyond the deep knowledge and connections to the plants, I really bring out the real stuff. My whole life has been surrounded by herbs and understanding how they can benefit and impact the body. We do different types of teas for all different types of events. If we bring out some yerba mate, for example, it’s going to be the best. It will be the real deal, not the stuff from the can. People can taste and tell the difference.
