The 420 spirit is already alive and moving in the streets of San Francisco as the city launches a whole week of Cannabis-themed happenings to celebrate the second year of SF Space Walk.
The event is the brainchild of journalist and event promoter David Downs, who has been helping create a new movement in the wake of the now discontinued Hippy Hill celebration. SF Space Walk is Downs’ newest way of telling the story of what’s happening with trends in California’s retail Cannabis market. Except, instead of having to merely read a post or watch a video about it, you can come out and buy some to experience it firsthand. He told Leaf Magazines that this is part of his desire to share a new story about Cannabis in the Bay. “There’s the old stories about taxes and regulations and challenges, but there’s so much more to the living experience of Cannabis users in the Bay Area.” He says last year they received over 5,000 RSVPs, and they expect to double that this year. “HVAC systems will fail,” Downs jokes.
SF Space Walk has built up an impressive lineup of participants, including Moon Valley Cannabis and 710 Labs. Downs, who recently attended the Hall of Flowers trade show in Ventura, says, “I smelled everything there, and I stand by the brands we have for Space Walk as some of the best in California.” A few of the highlights people can look forward to include Bosky dropping some of their Champu (Soap x Otterpops) which took third place at Zalympics. Team Elite Genetics is bringing their John Connor (Styrofoam Cup x Sh3rb3rt), which is sure to be on your list along with Solful’s Limonata collab with Harry Rose. The big decision will be whether to grab the Pie Scream from Sense or Snowfall (trick question, the answer is both).
Along with the chance to meet-and-greet a crew of Cali producers, attendees will also find that art is a big part of 2025’s SF Space Walk. Special posters with commemorative images by artists like Sunny Wong, Conor Buckley and Luke Martin will be available to take home. Start your journey at the Muris Gallery, located at 540 Howard St., where the “Get to the Bag” exhibit returns for a second year. Showing a range of the industry’s most impactful Mylar bags, the collection also invites you to grab some pens and create your very own.
Downs says that SF Space Walk provides incontrovertible evidence that positive things are happening in the city. “We bounce back through the blinding light of optimism when it comes to doing the things that we love. I invite people to San Francisco to be a part of the next big 420 celebration with us and others.”
