Chicken ‘n’ Wafflez

from Terp Mansion

"Frosty nugs with a little bit of pastry dough and hard candy sweetness."

In the world of perfect pairings, there are a few marquee players.

As the venerable RZA said, some things go together like cheese and cheddar. Like jeans and sweater. Like mo’ and better.

Or, like Chicken ‘n’ Wafflez. The second we laid eyes on it, we couldn’t pass on December’s “Strain of the Month,” cultivated by Humboldt County’s latest legendary come-up, Terp Mansion.

This strain is itself a perfect pairing, bred by another NorCal legacy titan, Humboldt Seed Company.

A cross of Xotic Flavorz’ legendary Purple Cartel with HSC’s own Jelly Donutz (hey, another pairing), this cut finishes beautifully under the care and attention of Luke Sanders and the Terp Mansion team.

We’ve had the benefit of trying the Chicken ‘n’ Wafflez from Sanders’ recent light-dep harvest, and what we sampled were beautifully structured frosty nugs with a little bit of pastry dough and hard candy sweetness draped over an undercurrent of stanky, fuel-fired funk.

The buds broke up easily, coating my fingertips with lingering, sticky aromatics (why I don’t use a grinder for a first smoke test). It burned smooth, each draw offering developing flavors, with sweet beginnings leading to gas on the back end.

It’s awesome to see heat coming out of collabs from homegrown Humboldt legacy players, and this one is not to be missed. Don’t sleep on Terp Mansion’s solventless lineup, either — this brand just keeps on getting better with age.
