We love Alaska Brewing Co. so much we’ve put them on the cover twice, and this fresh new pairing features a unique, 49th state style approach to a delicious seltzer.

Seltzer beers are the fastest-growing segment in the alcohol industry, and we’re embracing the refreshing nature of bubbly water infused with a light, easy-drinking buzz. While there are many generic (and bad tasting) flavored big beer versions, this bright and piney Alaskan offering enticed our taste buds and was worthy of a cover pairing. First sips tickle the palate with a lightly fruity and sweet tingle that is finished with a slightly sour, piney freshness that lingers brightly on the palate. Both invigorating and delicious, we enjoyed the full lineup of Alaskan Brewing Co. seltzers!

Sugary-sweet flavors reminiscent of Trix strawberry banana yogurt combined with bubble gum set our mouth to watering with a flavor profile that’s good enough to eat.

The Strawnana bred by Serious Genetics is a cross of  Strawberry Bubblegum x Crocket’s Banana Kush, bringing the best of both parent genetics out in this terpy, perfectly grown and processed combination by AKO Farms. The flower is dense and frosty and practically oozes a strawberry bubblegum wave of flavor, melting into an earthy-banana-Kush that pops when a bud is broken open – coating fingers in sticky trichomes that are definitely lick worthy. The golden, crystally sugar wax sharpens the Kush-y banana notes with a bright and complex flavor profile begging to be dabbed. The only hard decision is choosing which to consume first!

The Pairing

The sweetest treat for Cannabis lovers is experiencing strain-specific flower and concentrate in the same pairing. Comparing the flavors and effects can be hard work, which is why a tasty beverage is so important. We began our sesh by preparing a low-temperature dab, our freshly opened seltzer ready to soothe any coughing, and inhaled a syrupy, Strawnana-Kush vapor that kissed our lungs and blessed our mind and body with a smiley, relaxing buzz. Several big tokes later, we turned to the Sitka Spruce Tips brewed seltzer – quenching thirst with easy sips that accentuate the sweetness of the dab with a slightly hazy, sweet and sour tropical flavor that is finished with a perfect Spruce Tip kiss. Freshly baked and drink in hand, we turned to our loaded pipe – savoring a slow and clean smoking flower that delivers a heavier indica high, gluing our body to the porch in a heavy bliss. The flower burns with a scintillating earthy-fruity-bubblegum smoke that is washed down wondrously with sips of seltzer, completing a euphoric and satisfying pairing worthy of celebrating the end of summer.
