Adam Romanowski is a cinephile, video game lover and avid reader, and he really dives into all things in the entertainment space. On top of that, he has a deep love and passion for Cannabis and helping people achieve a better life through his work.
The Eastern Shore has embraced Cannabis, and it takes dedicated people like Romanowski to push the envelope on destigmatizing the plant in that part of the state. Make sure to pop into Positive Energy OC on your way to the beach this summer and give him a shoutout!
What is the most significant shift you’ve seen in how the Ocean City community views Cannabis?
For me, it’s the pure range of patients that we have and what they are looking for. The common factor is they are all looking for help, whether it is pain relief, depression or the many things in between. This is a community that we all share, and the bias of Cannabis has been dying off gradually. Seeing the judgment begin to disappear is the biggest change I’ve seen.
What is the culture of positive energy, and how do you keep that alive during a busy shift?
It’s all about being thorough with people. I treat everyone that comes in as if they just walked into their doctor’s office looking for help with health issues. I’m always willing to give my opinion and recommendations. Those recommendations won’t always be what people are looking for, but it opens a window of opportunity for them to try new products. It opens the minds of patients to try things they might have boxed themselves out from in the past. Peeling away that intimidating layer makes people feel comfortable.
Who inspired you to get into the Cannabis industry?
Honestly, I don’t really have anyone that specifically inspired me to join the industry; it was on my own. I have been smoking Cannabis since I was a teenager, and it’s nice to see the industry shift in a medical way versus just getting stoned with your buddies. Once you dive into medical Cannabis and see some of the benefits behind it, a whole new world is opened up to you personally.
What is the biggest misconception people have about Cannabis?
The comparison to alcohol, for sure. People assume that the intoxication feeling is equivalent to getting stoned, when in reality, it’s a lesser effect during which you remain in control. You can, of course, take too many milligrams of edibles and get a little loopy, but you will always come back to a better place faster with Cannabis.
How do you explain terpenes to someone who has never heard of them?
I’m a big terp head. Explaining that each terpene provides a unique effect secondary to that of cannabinoids is really important. For example, if you’re looking for happiness or to get out of a depressed state, limonene is a big one that will help you. Whereas, if you give someone a myrcene-dominant product, they might feel couch locked throughout the day, which isn’t always ideal. The combination of terpenes is also worth mentioning, like myrcene and pinene coming together to provide mental clarity and a relieving body high.
Name one thing you want people to remember after you’ve helped them in the store.
My biggest thing is for everyone not to judge a book by its cover. Everyone that comes in has a different background, look, age. And it’s about treating people with respect while getting down to the issues they’re facing.
