Yeti Scat Trails is on a mission. As a brand, they have been working diligently for the last five years to produce the highest-quality traditional hash in the Washington market. While a lot of us might know this process as bubble hash, full melt or ice hash, founders Karl Stevenson and Norman P. Johnson, Ph.D., have been perfecting this method over decades, way before we coined those terms.
First and foremost, Stevenson procures the highest-quality flower to begin the process; no trim is used at the facility. Viking Cannabis, Lazy Bee and Methow Growers are the main suppliers. As stated on their website, “We search out the very finest, high-quality varietal flower for making our world-famous traditional hashish. Using techniques preserving the full spectrum of the fruit of the female Cannabis flower, we handcraft each batch of varietal flower by centuries-old methods that purify and preserve the potent contents of the Cannabis rosin pod.”
Curing is arguably the most crucial step in the process; constant monitoring of temperature and humidity is paramount. This is accomplished by a careful system of air filtration, dehumidification and air conditioning that Stevenson and the team monitor like hawks. I found a lot of systems here that utilized legacy methods but have been adapted using modern engineering and technology. Stevenson said it best: “Nothing here is too crazy complicated but we’ve taken our legacy tools and modernized them for efficiency and consistency.”
Take their basin rocking system. This was completely engineered by Stevenson and Johnson; the top-mounted cable system suspends the main screen bag on a frame above a collection tub and allows for various ranges of undulation to help the water drain efficiently. Need I mention that their water is purified on-site?
Let’s take a look at the menu; they’ve got some really solid offerings. There are traditional options like Nepalese Temple Hash, a cured processed product available in 1-gram temple balls in traditional stores and 3.5- and 7-gram balls available on our local reservations. Powdered Perfection is a great bowl topper with a perfect melt and very noticeable buzz. Their Glacier Puffs are a container of Powdered Perfection covered with a generous topping of THC crystals provided by Green Reaper.
One of our favorites, the Avalanche Tokes, is a temple ball filled with custom-shaped THC diamonds, great presentation and the perfect bowl for a group sesh. Another don’t miss option is the Pathfinder Cones. This fusion of perfectly cured flower and Powdered Perfection burns evenly and really gives a boost to your regular preroll.
