The third annual Northwest Leaf Bowl continued a legacy as the largest free event in Washington’s Cannabis Industry. More than 2,000 attendees gathered to celebrate award-winning Cannabis in a display of responsible freedom made possible by a partnership with the Puyallup Tribe and our venue sponsor Commencement Bay Cannabis (CBC).

Nestled under the majestic snowcapped peak of Mount Rainier, the event was held in a parking lot festival format next to CBC Green, with Cannabis brands, art vendors, food trucks, free Redbull italian sodas at the PRC Hospitality Booth and tons of Cannabis shared by consenting adults!
Attendees of this free, private event presented by Advanced Nutrients had tickets registered in advance, and after a big line built up, were free to roam around the grounds and experience the sights, tastes and smells of food trucks and delicious terps wafting in the crisp spring air. Other attractions included a free Axe Throwing Experience by Rove Brands, puff putt mini golf, a Flawless Extracts lounge and the Constellation Cannabis dab bar experience.

As the event progressed, local Tacoma comedian, influencer and Cannabis lover Chris Crayzie took the stage to present over 100 awards for Best Flowers, Concentrates, Edibles, Topicals and more. Chris’ electric stage presence along with our beautiful presenter and judge MF Jane kept the crowd hyped to see what brands were leaving the event with new swagger and the glory of a Leaf Bowl Award. While the stars of the show are always the winners, the biggest hit at the event was the ability to purchase and consume Cannabis onsite.
The Leaf Bowl was the first partnership between a Tribe and a private entity (Leaf Magazines), to throw a joint event featuring these freedoms on full display. The onsite sales experience by CBC featured a pop-up dispensary with discounted products for sale, and the line was long for the entire event as event attendees stocked up on their favorites from the show.

Consumption of Cannabis should not be controversial after a decade of legalization and billions of dollars of pot sold in Washington State, but the legislature and the Liquor Control Board have done nothing to address a glaring issue in the Cannabis industry. The State says it’s fine to buy weed as it collects a 47% tax on each purchase, but it has not created a pathway to allow adults to gather and consume in the same way that people drink alcohol.
The Sovereign Nation of the Puyallup Tribe has a compact that provides regulatory freedom from the state, allowing for common sense decision making, which led to the opportunity to have consumption and onsite sales at the Leaf Bowl.

Through their successful chain of retail stores, the Commencement Bay Cannabis team has already proven the model of onsite event sales with a temporary licensed dispensary “pop-up,” which gave the Leaf team the inspiration to manifest a big dream. A Northwest Leaf Bowl on Tribal land featuring the ability to buy discounted Cannabis from our vendors on site through a pop-up dispensary, and to consume those products legally in celebration of the plant. We are proud to have thrown this event safely, while supporting Tribal art and food vendors, and the greater community of the Cannabis industry and consumers in Washington State.

The Leaf Magazines team would like to thank the Puyallup Tribe and Commencement Bay Cannabis for giving us the chance to throw this meaningful event, and demonstrate to the community and state that Cannabis events are safer than alcohol-related gatherings, and more fun!
We would also like to thank our sponsors, including our presenting sponsor Advanced Nutrients, venue sponsor CBC, hospitality sponsor PRC, photo booth sponsor Joint Rivers, ax throwing sponsor Rove Brands, stage sponsor Danks and our dab lounge experience sponsor Constellation Cannabis.

This event would not be possible without House Of Cannabis handling our intake of entries from all our supporting brands, which is a little like herding stoned cats. And finally, we want to thank our readers and those who attended the Northwest Leaf Bowl. With your help and love, we’ve made it the biggest hit yet, and we’re ready to pack another big Bowl for next year
