Budtender of the Month: Isaiah Steele from Sticky’s Pot Shop

Our Budtender of the Month strives to be the example that turns people’s day around.

He’s really into his house plants and always learning more about who they are and what place in the casa they prefer – but when out and about, you’ll find him working on fun, creative projects with friends. Look for Isaiah (@the_joke_is) at an open mic night near you this summer in the south end of the state!

The last name Steele feels like it belongs to either an action hero or a character in Zoolander. Which one are you?
Zoolander, because I’m a goofy guy. I like to take things in stride, so I don’t get bogged down in the negativity. I’m always trying to make light of any serious situation – to make other people laugh. And that’s why I’m writing jokes to become a comedian.

How do you bring that love for comedy into budtending?
Sometimes, like any Cannabis shop, we get difficult customers – and I want them to change whatever they’re feeling that’s making them anxious. I want them to leave with a small smile and with a sense of satisfaction from our short time together. So, I try to be the example that turns people’s day around.

What are you smoking these days?
I’m hitting some Rochester Cannabis Company, yeah.

What’s been your go-to strain lately?
Granddaddy Purp.

You’re going Old School?
Wait, not the Granddaddy Purp – the White Truffle! I’m sorry … it’s easy to make that mistake once in a while. There are so many wonderful strains and it’s challenging to keep them all organized in my head.

Had you said superhero at the beginning, who would that be?
Probably Deadpool because he’s so real, and he brings light to serious situations.

So then, the name Steele fits, right?
Absolutely, I have many identities. (laughs)

About Mike Ricker

The first time Ricker smoked weed was at a Santana concert at the age of 12. He then followed in his footsteps as an award-winning radio personality who became notorious for offering a stage for bong toking listeners in 9 different markets over 20 years. In 2016, the Cannabis industry came calling and the rest is history.
