Budtender of the Month – Mahia Sarden

My personal smoke stash always consists of heavy indica strains with cookie terps, like a Wedding Cake or Gelato.

Sonics legend and six-time NBA all-star Shawn Kemp recently expanded his Cannabis empire with a new dispensary location in Seattle’s industrial-chic SODO neighborhood. We stopped by to chat with Mahia Sarden – a fanatic for both Cannabis and basketball – to get the inside scoop on flower offerings at the shop and what she’s been smoking on lately.

How long have you been at Kemp’s, and what’s your favorite thing about what you do?
Working at Kemp’s is my first official budtender job, so I’m still very new to the industry. My favorite thing about what I do has to be talking about Cannabis with different people every day. I love working out of this particular shop a lot because of the footprint that Shawn Kemp has left for the Black community. I feel honored to be a part of its growth and excited to see where it goes!

What flower brands or strains are hot on your shelves right now?
Our hottest brand right now has got to be Mama J’s. My favorite flower of theirs hands-down is the Katsu Bubba. The smoke, the high, the smell … it’s all 10/10 in my book. The day to get Mama J’s in the shop would be on Fridays at 25% off.

What would we find if we looked in your personal smoke stash right now?
My personal smoke stash always consists of a lot of heavy indica strains with cookie terps, like a Wedding Cake or Gelato.

What kind of flower flavor and terpene profile do you usually go for?
My flavor profile has got to be gassy! I love a good gassy, potent weed smell. For terpenes, I lean towards eugenol – the euphoria and soothingness are something that I usually look for while smoking.
