Kush Klub’s Monique Canda

"I can’t see myself not doing this."

Outside of the Cannabis world she’s a dog mom of two spoiled pups. When she can pry herself away from the bunch, her passion is traveling to foreign countries – with the Philippines being her favorite. But if the road isn’t calling, simply finding cool spots with amazing views and being able to show them off to good friends is a rooted passion.

What did you do before you tended bud?

I got my certification to be a dental assistant, but I wasn’t really into working on people’s mouths as much as I thought I would be. I was searching through Indeed and found this current job online – didn’t have any previous experience, but gave it a shot, got hired and I’m loving it.

Did you smoke weed before getting the gig at Kush Klub?

Yes, a lot of it. (laughs)

Is Cannabis accepted in the dental community?

They scold you for smoking, telling you that it induces dry mouth. But once I started to really understand Cannabis, I found that the benefits far outweigh the negatives – which is pretty much staining your teeth.

They need to make dental floss out of hemp!

Seriously! Or Cannabis infused toothpaste. I feel like anesthesia for dental work could be replaced with Cannabis for pain in some regard. For patients who are 21 and up, some gummies to calm you down and offset the anxiety would be a good thing, instead of prescription drugs.

I assume you’ve got the brightest smile out of anyone behind the counter when budtending.

(giggles) It’s pretty big! I could use a little help on the straightness, but I do love smiling – that’s for sure.

Any plans to return to dental hygiene, or is Cannabis your new career?

As of right now I don’t see myself going back because I love Cannabis so much. I can’t see myself not doing this.

If you could smoke a bowl with anyone in the world past or present, who would it be?

Shaquille O’Neal. I’d puff some Dutchberry from Artizen with him. I’ve been into it for so long, it’s definitely a go-to. And Shaq has so much perspective because he’s involved in so many things, and I think it would just be chill to light up with him.

About Mike Ricker

The first time Ricker smoked weed was at a Santana concert at the age of 12. He then followed in his footsteps as an award-winning radio personality who became notorious for offering a stage for bong toking listeners in 9 different markets over 20 years. In 2016, the Cannabis industry came calling and the rest is history.
