Symbol of the Sun: Zia Recreational

It’s not about upselling, but to enhance your day with the right product – regardless of price.

BeLEAFers

The owners here have been Leaf fans since the beginning. In fact, when transitioning into the recreational market, they presented a Northwest Leaf Magazine profile of their old medical shop to prove to the LCB that they’d been a legitimate business and were deserving of a license. And here they are again! Hey, we always want to improve our lives and livelihoods – and this shop profile is a testament to their hard work and dedication to making a life in the wonky Cannabis industry. And by the way, that license was officially awarded on 4/20/2015!

Good Ones

We’re talking about Randy Jones who teamed up with Albuquerque natives David and Tracylee Anderson – a couple who moved to Washington to obtain legal medicine for their eldest son who suffered from Grand Mal seizures. It was high-CBD dabs that quelled the seizures and solidified the family’s devotion to the plant. Before getting into the weed biz, Dave spent 20 years working as a manager for Discount Tire, where he learned that the key to success is understanding that business is built on relationships. If you project positive energy, by the laws of attraction, positivity is what you get back. No doubt about it!

The People Business

“Take care of your employees, and they’ll take care of your customers,” says Dave. And that philosophy resonates in the shop, where you’ll find a safe and inviting vibe with a layout that harkens a cross between a candy and a jewelry store. With the wide-open floor plan, there’s plenty of space for interaction – allowing your eye to wander across every offering from the state’s best brands. But you won’t see prices on the product or on the wall because, according to Dave, “We don’t want people buying from their wallet. Tell us what your wants and needs are, and we’ll respond by attempting to tailor your experience. It’s not about upselling, but to enhance your day with the right product – regardless of price.”

About Mike Ricker

The first time Ricker smoked weed was at a Santana concert at the age of 12. He then followed in his footsteps as an award-winning radio personality who became notorious for offering a stage for bong toking listeners in 9 different markets over 20 years. In 2016, the Cannabis industry came calling and the rest is history.
