Parker Thomas was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia the day before Thanksgiving 2020 – but he did not let that define him, as he is a strong, healthy and resilient young man, who has so much to offer the world. We cannot wait to see how he changes our planet as he continues to grow up.
We hear you are a big sneaker collector! What are some of your favorite shoes?
My favorites are the tan Off-White x Nike Jordan 5s. My nurse at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital is married to a designer at Jordan. After I completed a marathon by walking around the hospital, the good people at Jordan found the perfect pair of shoes for me.
Who are some of the most meaningful people in your life?
My mom, dad and brother. Because they are my family and do everything for me, and we do everything together. My mom spent 130 days in the hospital room with me and 15-plus days in a hotel from Thanksgiving until July 18. We grew very close together, and we loved hanging out.
If you could give one piece of advice to other young men and women battling an illness, what would it be?
Keep a positive attitude and always look on the bright side. If you are feeling positive, you will feel less sick.
What do you like to eat most for dinner?
Steak tri-tip and artichokes are my all-time favorite!
